In the assessment, your Basic Metabolic Rate (BMR) is determined. This calculation takes into account your gender, present weight, height, and age. Once the BMR has been calculated, the Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) will then be measured. The next assessment will determine your sedimentary activity (calories performing day-to-day activities, such as going to work and keeping up with everyday household chores), not to be confused with exercise calories. What follows next is the calories you burned through exercise. These are calculated by using a value for calories per kilogram per hour so that I know how many calories you burn during a specific exercise.
Once I calculate all of these calories, I will then add the specific value for the thermic effect of foods (TEF). This value is a measure of how many calories you burn in keeping warm, processing, digesting, and absorbing food. The TEF varies widely based on your body’s composition and body fat percentage.
The final step is to design an ideal meal pattern/plan for you based on the above data which let you know how many exchanges of carbohydrates, protein, and fat your body requires for its optimal performance, nutritional, and fitness goal.
